The Bali Process Basic Course on Combating Trafficking in Persons for Cadets at the People’s Police Academy of Viet Nam

On December 8 and 9, the RSO – in partnership with the People’s Police Academy of Viet Nam (PPA) – delivered the Bali Process Basic Course on Combating Trafficking in Persons at the PPA in Hanoi, Viet Nam.

This year, 70 law enforcement officers and students at the PPA had the opportunity to gather the knowledge and skills required to better respond to suspected incidents of trafficking in persons. The RSO joined virtually to help facilitate the workshop and give an overview of trafficking in persons & people smuggling. The Pacific Links Foundation also joined virtually to provide a perspective from a Civil Society Organization. Lecturers at the PPA were able to deliver their sessions in person.

The RSO is pleased to continue its partnership with the People’s Police Academy of Vietnam. The first workshop between the RSO and PPA was delivered in 2016 and workshops have continued annually since then.

These pieces of training are delivered within the framework of the Bali Process Policy Guides on Protecting Victims of TraffickingIdentifying Victims of Trafficking and Criminalizing Trafficking in Persons. The success of his training workshop has brought both Viet Nam and the RSO closer to our shared goal of combatting trafficking in persons, people smuggling and related transnational crime.
