The Bali Process Advanced Course on Combating Trafficking in Persons

On April 26 & 27, the RSO – in partnership with the People’s Police Academy of Viet Nam (PPA) – delivered the Bali Process Advanced Course on Combating Trafficking in Persons at the PPA in Hanoi, Viet Nam. This course follows the Basic Course on Combating Trafficking in Persons which was completed in December 2020.

The course was delivered in a hybrid model, with participants and some of the presenters attending in person while other presenters and the RSO joined virtually.

30 law enforcement officers had the opportunity to gather the knowledge and skills required to better respond to suspected incidents of trafficking in persons during this course. To deliver sessions, the RSO and PPA brought in presenters from a variety of different organizations including: The Pacific Links Foundation, UN-ACT, Australian Federal Police (AFP), the RSO and the PPA. Throughout the two-day course, participants were able to absorb knowledge shared by presenters and engage in group discussions as well as other activities.

The RSO is pleased to continue its partnership with the People’s Police Academy of Viet Nam. The first workshop between the RSO and PPA was delivered in 2016 and workshops have continued annually since then.

These trainings are delivered within the framework of the Bali Process Policy Guides on Protecting Victims of TraffickingIdentifying Victims of Trafficking and Criminalizing Trafficking in Persons.

The RSO would like to thank all participants and guest presenters for attending and sharing their experiences. We would like to thank the staff of the PPA and the interpreters of this event for all their hard work in ensuring the success of this course which has brought both Viet Nam and the RSO closer to our shared goal of combatting trafficking in persons, people smuggling and related transnational crime.
