Consultation Workshop on the draft Guidelines for Information Sharing in relation to People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime

The Regional Support Office of the Bali Process (RSO) hosted a Consultation Workshop on 28 March 2018 on the draft Guidelines for Information Sharing in relation to People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime (the Guidelines).

Representatives from Bali Process Member States and Organizations met to discuss the draft Guidelines, which will guide effective information sharing for use by Bali Process Member States and Organizations. The Guidelines, together with related training, will form part of a Canadian Government-sponsored project to increase cross-border information sharing. Attendees included representation of the Technical Advisory Group for the project, which was established in February 2018.

Participants validated the purpose of the Guidelines and provided constructive comments and suggestions for their content. The meeting provided the RSO with valuable direction on the scope of the Guidelines and associated training to ensure they are relevant and useful for Bali Process Members.
